60s makeup

Hopefully will be doing a 60s shoot with Dress Me Vintage soon for her website.  I adore the 60s look and have started my research with icons including Mary Quant, Edie Sedgewick, Twiggy and Audrey Hepburn.

Vintage on Southbank 2011

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of working with Laura and Lauren on their play 2011 project (photography by Lee Gentry) Styled by Kate Chennells from Dress me Vintage - website soon to be live. (www.dressmevintage.co.uk) These five models were dressed and styled to suit their individual eras (70's, 80's 50's,50's 60's in this photo) They paraded the Southbank with thier headphones and music suited to their look, and a spare pair for passers by who fancied a boogie.  It was a fun afternoon with lots of sun, and lots of shopping, definately worth a look again next year :)

Inspirational - Val Garland

I am always on the hunt for inspiration for my makeup, it can come from a multitude of places, online, museums, galleries, films, music, books and magazines. 


Sometimes even just keeping an eye out on my favourite Makeup Artists spurs me on to be like them.


Val Garland is one of my favourite makeup artists. You will be able to tell why after seeing some of her images.  The swarovski advertisement being one of my all time favourites.

A very talented missy, whom I think it is very obvious now why I idolise her so....... Although truth be told, she isn't the only makeup artist I idolise, there will be time for all to shine

Vintage on Southbank Festival

Cherry Blush Makeup was at the Vintage at Southbank Festival on Saturday 30th July, turning 5 performers into fashionistas from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s

It was a  very fun day and getting to work with friends of mine Dress me Vintage and Laura and Lauren.

latest shoot

I like to keep myself busy and love doing makeup shoots- the last one I done was Friday just off bond street in a studio.

The theme was Dazed and Confused.  Dazed and Confused is a fun magazine and the makeup is generally either brightly coloured or really dark and heavy - so we decided to do both

Bright makeup: kryolan supra colour on eyes and lips.  Illamasqua sealing gel mixed with kryolan black cake eyeline

Dark makeup: Illamasqua sealing gell mixed with kryolan black cake eyeliner, Illamasqua black lip gloss, Illamasqua cream red blush

I am completely new to blogging but thought I would giv it a go, my name is Lauren and I am a makeup artist and makeup junky. 

I am currently setting up my own freelance makeup business including my website www.cherryblushmakeup.com it should soon be up and running - showing my services and all of my work.

My kit is mostly made up of illamasqua- and I intend to keep it that way.  It also contains some MAC pieces.
